The Michigan State Spartans nail-biting win over the previously unbeaten Iowa Hawkeyes let them secure a spot in the top four of the final College Football Playoff rankings released Sunday. On December 31, Michigan State will face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Cotton Bowl, while the Clemson Tigers and Oklahoma Sooners will square off in the Orange Bowl.
Of the four teams that will compete in the College Football Playoff, the number crunchers at FiveThrityEight give the Spartans only a 10 percent chance of winning the title. Oklahoma has the best chance at 41 percent, followed by Alabama at 34 percent, and Clemson at 15 percent.
