In November of 2015, a 1952 Topps baseball card of Yankees slugger Mickey Mantle sold for $486,100, setting a record for the greatest amount ever paid for a card on eBay. Grading company PSA rated the card’s condition as near mint, or an 8 of 10. In its history, PSA has graded 32 of the Mickey Mantle cards as an 8, six have earned a 9, and just three have earned a perfect 10.
The price paid for the Mantle card propelled it past Hank Aaron’s 1954 card and Roberto Clemente’s 1955 card to become the most valuable card ever printed by Topps. But where does the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card rank among the top ten most expensive baseball cards in auction history?
