Underdogs Nate Diaz and Miesha Tate bite back at UFC 196

No one gave Nate Diaz or Miesha Tate much of a chance to win their respective fights at UFC 196, but both emerged from the octagon as winners and earned the respect of their heavily-favored opponents in the process.

Diaz defied the oddsmakers by defeating Conor McGregor in the second round of the thrilling main event. Diaz dazed McGregor with a series of punches before finishing the Irishman on the ground with a rear naked-choke.

McGregor was uncharacteristically humble in defeat, while Diaz, being Diaz, gave a classic post fight interview.

Once again, the Women’s Bantamweight Championship changed hands. This time, Tate finally got the belt around her waist as she choked out former champ Holly Holm in the fifth round.

Tate was effusive in praising Holm after the win, and vice versa.
