Many crestfallen Detroit fans may have headed to the refrigerator to seek solace after Sunday’s phantom-flag loss to the Dallas Cowboys, but Scott Mitchell was not one of them. The former Lions quarterback has been consistently shedding pounds since becoming a contestant on NBC’s The Biggest Loser reality show.

Mitchell came on the show tipping the scales just thirty-four pounds shy of 400 pounds. His father died early in 2014 due to obesity-related health issues, providing Mitchell with motivation and urgency to change. Early on, along with the other contestants, he reflected on what it was going to take to successfully lose weight.

It will be interesting to see how much fat Mitchell ultimately burns off, but the transformation thus far has been nothing short of remarkable. As of the last episode, he was down to 242 pounds, or just two pounds more than he weighed while playing in the NFL.
