The United States’ top women gymnasts competed at the P&G Gymnastics Championships in St. Louis, with the uber-talented Simone Biles leading the way on Day 1 and relative newcomer Laurie Hernandez making it clear that she too is ready for the big stage. Aly Raisman, who along with Gabby Douglas are the only Fierce Five holdovers still active in competition, finished in a second-place tie with Hernandez behind Biles.
Biles, the three-time United States and World all-around champion, was her usual dominant self, recording the highest scores on three of the four apparatus and tying for fourth on the uneven bars. Douglas, the reigning Olympic all-around champion, sits in fourth place ahead of Day 2 of the competition this Sunday.
Results from the P&G Gymnastics Championships will determine which gymnasts will move on to the Olympic Trials, which take place on July 8 and July 10 in San Jose, California. We’ve gathered videos of the top three performances in each discipline for your viewing pleasure, and saved the best for last…
