This past week produced a pair of spectacular catches in international cricket play. Both New Zealand’s Tim Southee and Australia’s Brad Haddin used quick reflexes to assist on audacious one-of-a-kind outs.

The first highlight came at the 2nd Royal London One-Day International. England’s Adil Rashid crushed a ball from New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum which looked to be a sure sixer. But Southee, in full sprint, managed to pluck the ball out of the air at the boundary and toss it back in play to teammate Trent Boult.

Later in the week, on the other side of the Atlantic, day two of the second Test between Australia and the West Indies was contested. The third wicket came when the Windie’s Shai Hope edged a ball past wicketkeeper Haddin’s gloves, but directly into his waiting crotch. Haddin kept the ball secured with his thighs until teammate Steve Smith unabashedly fished it out, then held it aloft for all to see.
