Zach Johnson became the 44th player in U.S. Open history to ace a hole. His perfect shot came on Pinehurst’s 191-yard, par-3 hole 9, which had a tournament scoring average of 3.0766.
For Johnson, 14th ranked golfer in the world, the hole-in-one provided a euphoric kick on a day he was playing out of contention for the title. One thing is for sure — no other U.S. Open player will receive as many high fives.
