If you’ve never been surfing before, you can still get a pretty salty taste of what it feels like to catch a wave by watching the point-of-view videos made by some of today’s top surfers. Check out the unbelievable ride South African Benji Brand caught in a perfect tube off the coast of Namibia.
Surfing in Africa was first popularized by The Endless Summer, the seminal 1966 film by Bruce Brown. The movie documented two surfers, Mike Hynson and Robert August as they followed the sun and surfed their way around the world. While filming technology has come a long way in the almost 50 years since the movie’s theatrical debut, the African waves continue to provide the some of the best rides anywhere.
