Before Sunday morning, Caroline Wozniacki had never participated in a competitive race or covered more than 13 miles at a stretch, which makes the tennis star’s performance in the NYC Marathon all the more remarkable.

Bestie and sometimes rival, Serena Williams, was waiting at the finish line for Wozniacki to finish after the two took in the New York Rangers – Winnipeg Jets hockey game the night before the race.

Wozniacki’s time of 3 hours, 26 minutes, 33 seconds crushed that of former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber (5:14:37) and an NBA relay team including commissioner Adam Silver, Dikembe Mutombo, Chris Mullin, Albert and Bernard King, Allan Houston and Charles Oakley (4:48:09).
