Game of Thrones kicked off its sixth season on HBO last night with an episode enigmatically entitled “The Red Woman.” For those who have never indulged in the medieval fantasy epic, suffice it to say, the story is based upon George RR Martin’s best-selling book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” and Martin is a huge New York Jets fan. Wait, what?

Tis true. The writer who breathed life into characters like Grey Worm, Khal Drogo and Tyrion Lannister, also happens to proudly count himself among the green-and-white horde of the Jet Nation.
Martin recently recorded a video paying tribute to Jets lineman D’Brickashaw Ferguson, who is hanging up his cleats after plying his trade at left tackle for ten years.
If Jets fans are lucky, Martin might be able to sweet talk Game of Thrones character Gregor Clegane into plugging the hole at offensive tackle.
