For years now, animals have been commissioned to pick the Super Bowl winner with varying degrees of success. For fans of analytics, the tradition must seem painfully random, but even hardened skeptics must contend with Teddy Bear the Porcupine’s perfect record in picking the top dog.
What credentials, one may ask, can Teddy Bear boast to lend creedence to his picks? Well, for one thing, he likes corn… a lot. That should be worth something — at least to farmers in Iowa.

Teddy Bear was born on May 4, 2003 in West Texas and is a proud member of the North American porcupine species. An orphaned newborn, he was brought to facilities at the Zooniversity for extensive TLC and imprinted on his human caretakers. He’s gone on to star in a number of viral videos including a 2013 Halloween feast with more than 5 million views that features non-stop narration (in Rodentia dialect).
Teddy Bear has even ventured into theatrical releases, ably supplying the voice of “Sebastian the Hedgehog” in the award-winning blockbuster The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
